Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium at Weald Community Primary School
The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to publicly funded schools in England to help raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and to close the gap between them and their peers. At Weald, we use this funding carefully and strategically to ensure every child can thrive, achieve well and access the full richness of school life.
National research shows that some pupils may face barriers to learning linked to economic disadvantage. The Pupil Premium grant enables us to provide targeted support, resources and opportunities so that all children — regardless of background — can reach their full potential.
Support may be short‑term or longer‑term, depending on each child’s needs. This can include:
-
One‑to‑one or small‑group teaching
-
Additional classroom resources
-
Enrichment activities and wider opportunities
-
Pastoral or wellbeing support
-
Strategies that build confidence, ambition and engagement
We work closely with families to ensure that support is personalised, effective and makes a meaningful difference.
Free School Meals and Eligibility
It is extremely important that all parents and carers who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) do register — even if you choose not to take the meals. Registering ensures the school receives the Pupil Premium funding that directly benefits your child and others.
You can find out more and apply by speaking in our school office.
We recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be disadvantaged. In allocating Pupil Premium funding, our objective will be to ensure the most effective allocation of all resources available to ensure the best outcomes.
