Term 5

This term in Literacy we will be exploring the fun and atmospheric Gothic novel Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse; whilst losing ourselves around a Gothic mansion and estate we’ll be studying adverbs of possibility and relative clauses, as well as brushing up on our punctuation knowledge. Then we’ll explore exciting destinations around the world through a range of travel writing.

In Maths we’ll be stretching our number knowledge as we work on numbers up to 1,000,000, understanding their place value. Then we’ll practise adding and subtracting numbers with more than four digits.

In History we’ll explore how a pile of dragon bones helped solve an ancient Chinese mystery. In Art we’ll be taking a look at traditional Chinese brush painting and working on producing our own art in the same style. In Science we’ll be extending our knowledge of forces as we look at the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction. In PE the children will be developing their basketball skills at Sevenoaks School and then back at Weald they will be continuing to hone their hockey skills.
