This term, Year 5 will be exploring The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien to inspire their narrative writing, focusing on adding detail through expanded noun phrases and relative clauses. In Reading, pupils will build fluency and develop their comprehension skills across a range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry texts.
In Maths, we will focus on geometry, including angles, shape, and position, while in Science children will learn about the human lifecycle and how our bodies change over time.
In RE, pupils will explore how different religious and non-religious worldviews teach us to care for the Earth. In Geography, we will investigate global trade and fair trade, which will link to our Design and Technology work preparing dishes using fairtrade ingredients.
In Computing, children will create interactive quizzes using Scratch, while in Music they will learn and perform Dancing in the Street. In PE, pupils will continue developing their swimming skills.
These are just some of the exciting learning experiences Year 5 will enjoy this term!
